Yes, I should have said Republicans:eek:

Sadly, most Republicans aren't bitterly opposed anymore either. One of the many reasons I'm not one of them.

Getting this from the wiki article and stuff ...

Seems it did increase access ....

Code:
CRA regulated banks may also inadvertently facilitate predatory lending by financing predatory lenders. They also noted that CRA regulations as it was then administered, failed to penalize banks that engaged in predatory lending

Hmm. The government not regulating its own regulations again.

I will further opine that since it was ACORN and groups like that would be culpable or at least complicit in predatory lending. They fought to get the credit, sued to get the loans, but yet while being involved in the process and pretending to be looking out for the people failed to educate or advise the people to 'not sign that, you're gonna get hosed.'

Hey dk, look, it's like the same conversation, only with facts!

The one's posting here? I'll ASSUME that you mean
Ken - admits in post 133 that he is ok with a safety net.
George - said way back in post 16 that he had no problem with it.

There are a few others that might be Repulicans, but more likely they're Libertarians - and even then, none of them has even mentioned welfare in the context that you and I have been talking about.

Welfare is the child of the Democrats, so why would anyone that is even remotely opposed to it vote democrat?

Uh... stop the press please. Pleaee read this post I made in complete context.

What I meant to communicate was that it seems a child shouldn't be denied medical attention because a bum stood in the way...

Redneckgeek is correct. I am a Republican and have voted Democrat before (and usually have rued it). In fact, I used to be registered as a Democrat.

You won't find me voting Democrat now except in rare circumstances. I've been burned enough (Carter, Clinton).

I don't mind taking care of people who need help. Like many Libertarians (which I'm not), I believe that the community, not government, should help those in need. However, in the real-live world, that doesn't happen as often as it should and I am glad the government is there to do the job of the lazy, self-absorbed citizenry.

I don't think we should go with the Darwin rule. It's just wrong.

To steal a quote from you:
"Proof, man, proof"

You won't find it in this thread. And I doubt you will anywhere else in the forum.

Ken/George,
Sorry to drag your names into this. I was just trying to show rich that his generalizations are "generally" incorrect.

Believe me, if I didn't like what Rich had to say, I can put him on ignore. Fact is, he's very entertaining (in his utter wrongness).

It is entertaining, I just wish he'd put out more than 1/2 sentence bites if he want's to join the fray.

I like to think of it more like: 'You work hard and smart and you get ahead, you screw off and you eat beans' :p

What you mean is, if you work hard you get screwed.
Republicans still like to pretend this is a fair world where anyone can succeed if they just work hard enough. The problem is, that is just not true anymore. We have to deal with the situation that actually exists today, not your fanciful dream world.

I don't think anyone is opposed to a "proper" health care system. We just don't agree on the meaning of "proper".
