This may be the underlying principle of your beliefs but it holds no weight in a secular democracy.

Marriage ceremonies have been performed in societies long before it was written in the Bible and by people who had never heard of the Bible or the horrible Jewish God.

Like the rest of the Abrahamic religious texts the Bible is a load of rubbish written by ancient, arrogant, ignorant men and has no place in modern society.

The tide has turned and religious beleifs are rapidly becoming increasingly irrelevant. Same sex marriage is being legalised in country after country. Get over it.

This segment of the community has an agenda and that agenda is to destroy religion or at least minimize it effects on people, laws, etc...

I can't speak for for whatever "segment" of the community you are generalizing to but destroying religion and especially minimizing its effect on people is certainly one of my life goals.

Fortunately the internet has done much to promoting this outcome. Unlike most of history where the church monopolized philosophy with its arbitrary misguided dogma, other rationally based systems of thought are available to all who can connect online.

One of the biggest surprises is the extent to which the indoctrinated contribute to the widespread demise of their own faiths. To a sophisticated audience their bizarre postings do more to show the obtuse and insensible nature of religious belief than any atheist could ever hope to present in a whole volume of erudite discussion.

Moreover, I am quite certain the Old Testament is a collection of old myths passed down orally through countless generations, endlessly corrupted and exaggerated along the way. It was written down at a time when the concept of writing itself would have appeared supernatural.

The New Testament is a work of fiction concocted as a sequel to a best seller of the day.

In other words, you don't won't me to tell you how to live your life but you want to put enough conditions out there (get rid of religion for one) that you are essentially telling me how to live mine. Sounds kind of hypocritical to me.

The agenda is clear. How you live your life is up to you and if you do not accept Jesus Christ as the savior then that is your choice. I am not going to lose sleep over it. It will NOT make me think any different of you as a human being, I will NOT judge you. In the end, God will do that and I suspect (as millions have done that preceded us in death), IF you have time before you die, you will call on Jesus Christ to forgive you and.... HE will. Where do you get your opinion/beliefs? You appear to have an understanding that one would not normally associate with a person from your locale.

I look at religions like The Salvation Army that do so much good for so many people. Then the American Baptist who at one stage though it was acceptable to own another person. (Slaves) The Roman Catholics who have more money and assets that you can poke a stick at. A Religion where you can buy your way into heaven.

Then move from the Christian groups to others like Islam. Public stoning, severing of hands, floggings. If I am correct, they have been in a state of war with the Jews and Christians’ for centuries.

Then there are still more like Buddhists, Hinduism before we go searching the web where we can still find many more.

The one major thing I can see in common is that people use it as a Crutch and for justification of the things they do both good and bad.

You on the other hand can debate with such confidence. How do you know so much?

IF the U.S Gov legislates to all states (U.S.) that 'Gay Marriage' is the rule of the land the final days of religious destruction will begin. This Law will be the first of two laws that will allow the (Gay community) to destroy religion as we know it. And my friends, this legislation is coming no less than Obama-Care did.

By the way Oregon voted to allow 'Gay Marriage' today.

In my humble opinion here are the series of events needed to destroy religion in the U.S.

Once all states have the marriage law in place, the Gay movement will not be content to be married by a justice of the peace. NOooooo,, Most all will push for a church wedding since it will be the last item keeping them from having the same rights as a marriage between a man and a woman. Of course most churches will refuse this option. Now in the U.S. All Churches are "non-profit" for tax purposes and lawsuits. The gov. will eventually declare any church not willing to marry two(or more) Gays will lose their non-profit status (2nd Law). If the church still refuses and they lose their non-profit status, it will open up lawsuits not only to the church itself but the members as well. Thus when this happens, the church will go under ground. Religion will not die but be back the same as it was in Egypt and other areas during those early days as spoken of by the Holy Bible . Believers will again be persecuted on a wider scale than they are today. I can almost guarantee you that if the events above take place there will no Church unturned in the U.S. and all Churches will have at least two Gays and a Lawyer sitting outside its doors wanting to get married..

Of course,only one thing in world and U.S. events could change this timeline, that being World War III. However, in the absence of that event, the way the Gay Marriage movement is going right now and with what Mr. Galaxiom stated I truly believe the above statements will actually happen.

On the subject of gay marriage, I think the current legislation we have in Britain is perfect - gay people can get married, but a church is not forced to marry them.

I think that you will find that that is the proposed legislation, at the moment they can have a civil union that carries all of the same rights but not the name.

NO!___What I believe and you believe are two different things. I am simply stating what I believe to be up coming events. I will not judge gays on their behavior but they are not content to simply marry or even have a civil union with each other but rather destroy my religion from the U.S. and in turn make me a slave to their whims. Nor will I judge a women that defies God's laws by giving herself out to every Tom, Dick and Harry.

These are God's law and Man's Law. Both of the homosexuality and the virginity problem you mentioned are Sins according to God's word. The stoning part was Man's Law and it has been carried out over the ages in the name of God. To me that is also a sin --one of the Ten Commandments, "Thou Shall Not Kill"

He and He alone will vet everyone that comes to his gates. That you can take to the grave or at least I will.

My beliefs are deep rooted in the south and its mostly Baptist religion. Yes, I have heard all the Baptist jokes. And yes, I love to talk to people about different things but do not enjoy crowds. I could not live in a City.

As far as slave ownership, I don't believe in it. In fact, I think it is still going on today and we turn a blind eye. Another fact is that Slave owners and traders brought slaves to early America and sold them. It is wrong and someone will pay in the end. God's end.

Have you even tried to peak into Islam. In the Holy Bible, Jesus speaks of love, forgiveness, etc. In the Quran, those items you spoke of are OK. Man is at fault and you put a power-hungry person in charge of religion you got problems. Same with the Roman Catholics although I think with this new Pope, a little humility is leaking out. Did you know there are three books on Islamic religion. All of them give a different perspective of their prophet and all of them are as different as Night is to Day compared to Jesus Christ.

Yes there are several religions just as there are several sects within the protestant religion. People simply do not hold the same interpretations of the Holy Bible as others do, thus different versions all with One Main Topic, there is a 'God'. This segregation, I disagree with and thus do not attend any particular Church. While this may be a sin in the eyes of God. It is simple, I do not want to be a part of an organization that uses God's word to maintain a power over people and am perfectly ok in the thought that I will have to deal with that sin after I die. In my opinion, there is no justification for killing, treating people badly just because of one person's interpretation of the words of God.

There is less and less morality in the U.S. these days which results in a decaying of its basic principles. Where do I get the morality-----The TEN Commandments.

No, I am not a good debater. and I have had a very long time to soak up a lot of information which as some of you debaters have told me is not worth the words it is written with. lol

Why would someone shoot you for speaking your mind? Only those that deem it a threat to their visions of humanity and their power will try to harm someone. They place themselves as Gods above all others in order to lead others that are ignorant and force others that are not.

That would be OK with me but consider this, A step to place religion in a dark hole somewhere is big one. The final step will not take place until the U.S. and every country follows Britain's setup of Gay Marriage. If they did prematurely go to that step, all would see it for what it is and would be and prevent it from happening.
