Gun laws do they work

75 miles is a big radius. Put it this way, I've never experienced, witnessed or been told by the local media anything that would make me adopt your attitude.

My mother has had stones thrown at her car, she got out and gave them a talking to.

Where I live and many many areas I know of and beyond the 75 miles they would have shot her the minute she got out of the car. If it would help I would gladly outlaw guns, but these people are going to get guns no matter what laws we past. In fact all they have to do is call Eric Holder and he will give them some. Our only hope is to elect people that will get tough on crime.

With respect you're not making much sense. You explain the limits of your concerns and go on to describe how you help people in the street.

I will say this though, I consider not drenching my family in fear as a part of looking after them.

You are right I did not articulate very well. I do have compassion for others outside of my family. What I should have said I don’t have much compassion for those that commit these heinous crimes. I don’t understand how I am drenching my family in fear. Please explain?

Dick, there are 2 separate thoughts here.

I should have separated them with a new paragraph.

As for the first thought, I think your own admissions clearly label you as such.

As for the second, I imagine you to be a Fox news viewer. If I am correct in that, you should take this quick survey (11 questions): http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/2010/1...-about-a-CNN-viewer-Take-our-quiz-to-find-out

See how many you get correct - the answers may surprise you.

I started to take that quiz but then I realize that the premise is flawed. What do I care what most economist think. Most, not all, but most are a bunch of nuts. Especially if they work for the regime.

I am glad if your area is that safe, and 75 miles is just the begining, look what is happing around the whole country. Take a look at the post that I sent to Brian. Does not your heart go out to that family?

Where I live and many many areas I know of and beyond the 75 miles they would have shot her the minute she got out of the car.

Your bleak outlook on life is in danger of spoiling my weekend. I think I'll leave you to it.

Dat,
I am sorry that my post are upsetting to you, I really am. I like the quote by one of our former presidents. They called him “Give him hell Harry”, He said I just tell them the truth and they think it’s hell. You are right in one respect I do have a bleak outlook on society. Can you really tell me, honestly, can you really tell me society is not getting worst? On the other hand I am living in the happiest times of my life. I get to travel, (get paid for it), get to meet some wonderful people, get to see some wonderful sites, (Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, Crater Lake, Alcatraz, Custer’s Last Stand, Golden Gate Bridge, just to name a few, eat at some wonderful restaurants, but at the same time, I am very cautious as to what and who is around me. Contrary to what you may think I am not spreading this to my wife. In fact I try to give her the exact opposite impression. In less I am in a very bad neighborhood, (which I try and avoid), I will not let her lock the door on the RV, if I have to leave. Since she is handicapped if something was to happen (medically) rescue would have to chop the door down to get to her. I tell her yes someone could break in here, but the odds are very low in this neighborhood. The odds of you falling are much higher. You may find this humorist, but to put her at easy I bought her a big can of bug spray, and she leaves it by the side of her computer if I have to leave. There are three steps to get into our RV, spray them in the eyes.

We don't have any bases here although I believe that Pinegap is the next best thing, there is also a bunch of Marines stationed up in Darwin.

Oh too bad Pinegap to far from the ocean. I got to have those Gaint Crayfish. also not sure an airstation where American military aircraft would land. I have resources to check it out. How far from the ocean do you live?

Not far from Port Phillip Bay and about an hour from Bass Strait.

Chicago staged its annual gun buy-back program in June (a $100 gift card for every firearm turned in) amidst its worst homicide epidemic in years, in which 259 have died on city streets in the first six months of 2012. However, the program appears to be, inadvertently, a win-win project for both anti- and pro-gun forces. The city reported that 5,500 guns were removed from circulation (bringing the total to 23,000 since the program was inaugurated), and included this year were several machine guns. On the other hand, 60 of this year's guns were handed in by a local pro-gun organization, Guns Save Life, which promised to use its gift cards to buy ammunition for a National Rifle Association-supported shooting camp for kids. It seems the bottom line is that you believe what you want, regardless of facts, expert opinion, etc. And that's okay. Just don't be surprised when your input is not taken seriously.

That’s just the point, I don't regard them as experts. They are a bunch of people that make up their own facts. So called experts are trying to force global warming down our throats. They want me to cram myself into a little car, and screw in curly light bulbs but they themselves are exempt.
It is beyond my comprehension how anybody can take Al Gore seriously, when he has a house with the worst record of using energy. His house and Bush’s house were compared and Bush’s house did better. Al Gore, Obama, Nancy Pelosi are a bunch of elites. Obama’s wife has more servants than any other presidents wife even came close to. They have been on more vacation than any former presidents. The liberal press shields them. Romney’s wife has a blouse that cost a lot of money and they are out of touch with the people. Mocha Obama has an article of clothing that cost way more, but that’s ok. Obama feels my pain, hogwash. Somehow I am supposed to be more concern on how Romney spends his money, than how Obama spends mine. I don’t get it.
Of course I believe what I want to believe, just like you and everybody else in the world.

You want to talk facts: here is Omaha’s own words: OBAMA: I believe in America workers. I believe in American industry. The American auto industry has come roaring back and GM is number one again!
A big lie, GM is not number 1. They, and Chrysler still own you me and every other tax payer over 23 billion dollars. http://radioviceonline.com/treasury-ups-the-ante-in-government-losses-at-gm-and-chrysler/

What the likes of Al Gore and other hypocrites say or do is irrelevant. The fact is the scientific evidence for global warming being caused by human activity is clear and unequivocal.

I am even finding fewer and fewer of those who don't believe it who are willing to debate any more because their every point has been knocked down with facts a hundred times over. Most now really are simply deniers without anything to debate.

It is your right to disbelieve Global Warming but it reveals your ignorance. You can choose to drive a huge inefficient car and pretend that a sensible one needs to you "cram" into it. It further demonstrates your ignorance and twisted, selfish perspective.

It is also the right of others to note your ignorance and consider your input as irrelevant. Generations who reap the consequences of your ignorance will despise you for it. That is their right too.

The crux of the problem!!! Who choice to believe groups of scientist and some so call scientist that are not scientist. My sources have as many scientist that say it’s a hoax, and my side says (not me I don’t get into name calling) say that you side has as demonstrates their ignorance and twisted; selfish perspective. It is also the right of others to note your ignorance and consider your input as irrelevant. Generations who reap the consequences of your ignorance will despise you for it. That is their right too. Works both ways my friend.
How can you say that what Al Gore says is irrelevant, when he is the founder, sustainer of the theory, and is quoted by huge amount of follows as their source of knowledge on global warming? I don’t have the time to do the research and pull up the names, but some of their own emails said to hide information since it didn’t reflect global warming. If you want to ignore that kind if info than have at it. Once they do that they lose their credibility with me. With all that said Galaxiom I think that you are probable still a pretty nice guy. Do you live close enough to John Big Booth for me to come over and buy you a coffee when I visit with John.

500 more

according to this article 96% of scientist don’t believe in manmade global warming. http://www.minnesotansforglobalwarming.com/m4gw/2011/07/96-of-scientists-dont-believe-in-global-warming.html

Would you be so kind as to provide me with a list of scientist that believe global warming is cause by man.

Your information is absolutely wrong. The almost unanimous opinion of climate scientists is that anthropogenic global warming is a fact.

I am comfortable with this. My opinion does not come from ignorance. I have done a lot of research into the claims that it is a hoax and every one of them is baseless. As every season comes round we see increasing evidence of the truth.

How can you say that what Al Gore says is irrelevant, when he is the founder, sustainer of the theory, and is quoted by huge amount of follows as their source of knowledge on global warming?

Gore is by no means the founder of the theory. I don't care how many quote him. The fact comes from the resaerch done by scientists dedicated to their fields.

I don’t have the time to do the research and pull up the names, but some of their own emails said to hide information since it didn’t reflect global warming. If you want to ignore that kind if info than have at it. Once they do that they lose their credibility with me.

It is fair enough not to do your own research but one must be vary careful who you listen to lest you simply choose a position because it suits your own agenda. Why not listen to the hundreds of times as many voices that form the prevailing scientific opinion?

You clearly are not aware of the content of the actual emails and the out of context quotes used by the detractors to try and paint a picture of deception.

You are simply repeating the propaganda fed to you by those employed by the fossil fuel industries. Many of the same "scientists" denied the Ozone Hole and some even denied the link between smoking and cancer.

With all that said Galaxiom I think that you are probable still a pretty nice guy. Do you live close enough to John Big Booth for me to come over and buy you a coffee when I visit with John.

I am just south of the border with Queensland not far from the east coast. Long way from JBB's palce.

Davep,
Don't you have violent crimes around where you live say with in 75 miles everyday, or almost every day.

A 75 mile radius from where I live encompasses London, also what is the definition of violent crime? If you are referring to murder, then yes it does happen from time to time but certainly not every day or even weekly.

Bob - are you going to answer my questions? I will remind you of them if you have a short-term memory problem. Also, if you recall, it was your lack of ability to answer a question that caused the situation a few years ago. Again, I can remind you of the question in case you have forgotten.

I can't understand your reluctance for lunch, it would be a great laugh, all this banter between us I see as harmless fun, it just makes this boring watercooler a tad more interesting.

I lived in Oz for 3 years at maroubra beach, Sydney.

It was nice but very hot and humid. Another thing we didn't like much was the way the Abbo's were treated by the whites, a bit like how the yanks treat the native indians. Too many adverts on the telly and trying hard to be a clone of the USA and failing miserably.

Other than that, it was ok, well paid and plenty of money. Wouldn't go there again though.

Can you really tell me, honestly, can you really tell me society is not getting worst?

Worse than what?

The Black Death which wiped out half of the population of Europe?

World War II with over 60 million dead, where WMD's have only ever been used in anger on civilian targets and global superpowers were exterminating their civilians en masse.

The Chinese famine of 1958 killing at least 15 million, probably millions more?

As I say to all with an apocalyptic view, get a grip.
