Gun laws do they work

Pearls to pigs...

Amazing the number of people that are self proclaimed experts on guns in the US that don't live here yet they seem to want to impose their will on us...

Don't be insular Ken, an outside view can be helpful.

I am not trying to impose my will on anyone.

When it comes to imposing wills in world affairs there is one outstanding leader. No prizes for guessing which country that would be.

Many Americans seem to be self proclaimed experts on guns too.

Yet despite levels of gun violence literally hundreds of times higher than anywhere else they don't seem to be able to acknowledge they have a serious problem.

If guns are not the problem then it must be that Americans are the problem.

I think its a totally misplaced but genuine concern for the innocent victims of gun culture in the US, and a expression they maybe think helps ensure the "civilized" places they live in never slip into the "mess" the US has got itself into.

I reality though back in the real world - I reckon - though I am no expert Ken - just putting ideas out there. In this country we are told to extricate ourselves as quickly as possible from a situation of danger, ie if you can, dont fight - run to safety.

Now with American being one of the most obese peoples on earth - maybe alot of people dont run so well, they more waddle? Therefore fighting it out, and needing a gun may be more necessary.

Compunding that situation is - for every shot fired , a large percentage are going to hit, people are generally too fat to miss, then further compounding the problem most are heart attacks waiting to happen anyhow. So shooting injuries and deaths are just more likely in the US than elsewhere, even if the ownership levels are similar.

I think its short sighted to believe the appaling US statistics with guns are just through dumb ownership policies. I'm with you on this.

Ask Reeva Steenkamp.

You are undermining your credibility here. Reeva Steenkamp is dead. shes not likely to have an opinion on this, one way, or another!

But you do highlight another situation that supports my mobility theory, - Pistorius was not wearing his legs - so felt more threatened and less able to flee, so unfortunately he chose to fight.

You cant just simply blame the guns - Reeva Steenkamp MAY have been dead against guns as you propose. But she was definately dead against the bathroom door .

Does it mean we ban doors ?

Ha - in more than one way, that pretty much sums it up then. ;)

1. 'we are told' - Can't you think for yourselves about these kind of things?!?
2. 'dont fight - run to safety' - What kind of men are you?!? - oh deary me, run

We have the ability to learn from others, and we are men enough to survive without guns?

e lei?

BTW aren't Christians supposed to be nonviolent, I didn't think that they were supposed to be confrontational with a view to killing at the drop of a wrong word.

That may explain why we had to come save you from the germans and why we sent you home packing so easily from the states. 'Look, the americans have guns, lets go home and crawl under the queens skirt, surely that will be a place of saftey'

Oh dear that is a can of worms,

You only entered the war after we had fought them to a standstill so they turned on Russia.

It was the French that threw us out of the states, hence all the squares etc named after their admiral down your way.

While discussing running away should we mention Vietnam?

It was a King? Dont get your private life and history confused?! ;-)

.. aren't Christians supposed to be nonviolent? And then you once again take your own conclusion to another level of ridicule and insult. Really? Now you are a spiritual spokesman too? Your revisionist history lacks basic respect for much of anything. So glad to know that you feel our parents generation sacrifice and assistance was not appreciated by the likes of you.

But, then again, you probably under a lot of general stress over there. So, I will forgive you. I personally wish the best for your country.
Britain is a 'crisis economy', says Mark Carney Mark Carney, the incoming Bank of England Governor, has described the UK as a “crisis economy” as he sought to play down hopes that he could ride to the country’s rescue.

I'm sorry RX but I found this a bit of a convoluted paragraph, and what is my own conclusion.
As to insults Ken threw one our way so I tossed one back.
As to your parents' generations sacrifice and assistance you entered the war after Germany declared war on you, not to rescue us or the people in the concentration camps or being persecuted by the nazis in any other place, but simply because Germany declared war on you. You charged your allies for every bit of ordinance and came out of the war richer than when it started.
Ken and I were having a bit of banter, pity you have turned it serious.

I wish I had a quid for every time some yank mentions this.

Oddly, they never mention the billions we had to pay back and only finished paying about five years ago.

If you want to save someone now that you are pulling out of Afghanistan and fancy another war, you could have a go (again) at North Korea or Syria if you feel hard enough.

If you ever get in another squabble we'll probably have to come save you again because it'd take forever to teach you which end of a 303 the bullet comes out of.

I don't worry about it one way or the other. Live in the wilds on a mountain. To not have a gun when running across an empty field or in the woods, invites various creatures that could simply turn you whole day upside down. Coydogs, bears, wolfdogs(people have turned them out) wild dogs and of course pigs. I have lived here for thirty years and as stated in my last post only one incident has happened. One is enough, if you are not prepared.

The city dwellers will take care of themselves soon enough with or without guns.

Have fun in Australia as you have some of thee animals including dingos. Guess you can point you finger at them and make them lie down like that fella did in the movie. lol

have a good day----BladeRunner
