North Korean Nukes

Actually, NO ONE should have them. But the genie's out of the bottle.

North Korea test launched seven missiles today. It's the 4th of July. Coincidence?

Straight from the USA here...
Bash us all you want and be an armchair quarterback all you want, but I hope you really see what is going on here. It's no longer about the good ol' USA, there is a bigger movement going on here and quite frankly I don't like what I see from any one country...yours included.

Like organized crime, I think we are experiencing "organized politics" and you are all still fighting the "old" cause. I don't think it is as easy as it was in the old days, blaming a country, dictator or whatever. I think there is a global vision by our leaders and some of us are stuck thinking "USA bad, Russia bad, China bad...", but in reality, there is a much bigger enemy before us.

The USA sucks for sure, but I can't name one other country that is any better and taking the lead in the crap that is happening to US ALL right now. What I see is a lot of people saying this sucks or that sucks but not doing anything about it. And our leaders are taking advantage of that very moment!!!!!

I really like this board a lot, and I can accept the bashing that goes on, but before you start flapping your lip...check your own damn backyard!

Just something to think about.

I have no idea how you got me "bashing the USA" from my post.
Would the world be a better place is no one had nuculear weapons is the substance of my post.
My previous posts on this subject are to the point that North Korea has only developed atomic weapons so that they can get blackmail money, aid and assistance from the US by getting rid of them.
So far, the US had done nothing. The correct way to treat a spoiled brat throwing a tantrum.

What the hell's that got to do with having a backyard?
What the hell does your not having a backyard have to do with my comment? Clearly you were being a smart ass and I was not just going to let that one go.

I wasn't necessarily attacking you, if you go through this thread and MANY others there is clearly an anti-USA sentiment and the stabbing comments do get a bit much to take. Which is where my backyard comment comes in :D

Say the above quote to yourself again and try to see how offensive this statement is. Last time I looked, the USA wasn't the only country in the world.

I don't see how that comment is offensive. He simply said the Good Old US did nothing.

I don't remember the "Good Ol' " part.

And I said "the USA wasn't the only country in the world.". So if your unhappy with the USA for their inaction let's also be unhappy with all the other countries that sit by the sidelines and do nothing.

Statsman said the Good Old US has done nothing, but then he said that was the proper thing to do.

I myself gave no indication as to what I think the proper response should have been. I was only saying that Statesman comment was not offensive.

Quite clearly you were being illiterate both in the original post and subsequent respose

Erm ... isn't
check your own damn backyard!
kinda like our saying "people in glass houses should not throw stones"
I thought the meaning of Dan's comment was pretty obvious, but then so was Statsman's
So far, the US had done nothing. The correct way to treat a spoiled brat throwing a tantrum.
which for some reason Dan threw a tantrum over.

I do wish people would take time to read posts and take the comments in context.

Are you guys serious?
You really don't know what "your own backyard" means?

I think the big problem here (besides the above) for me anyway is the constant US bashing. And maybe this thread wasn't the best one to bring it up on (but there are hints of it for sure), there are so many on other threads that it really does get old.

Quite clearly you were being illiterate both in the original post and subsequent respose
And you are a freakin' idiot.

We have gardens in the UK not a yard. A yard is a place where a builders merchant may store all the bricks etc etc.

I think the big problem here (besides the above) for me anyway is the constant US bashing.

Well, the USA is still one of the most hated country in the world - stop invading places and it may improve. Obama has helped to improve but is all talk and no action. People here have tried to bash the UK, but it fell away when most UK posters actually agreed.

Another problem with that is that US posters have no idea where the UK is.

As I am sure you are aware, us Americans are not very liked around the world. When you come to a forum hosted by another country (seeing the .uk at the end of the web address), particulalry in an opinions-based category, you should expect there to be some anti-US opinions.

Of course, the posters who are blindly anti-US you should just learn to ignore. Most of the posters here, both UKers and USAers are very reasonable.

TBT, I think you're just being overly sensitive.

We do have back yards in the UK - the term tends to refer to small, paved, walled or fenced garden/utility areas behind terraced houses, especially in the north and Scotland, possibly Wales and Ireland too.

And I trust most of us (with notable exceptions) who don't actually use the term on a daily basis are sufficiently internationally-aware to understand what it means, or smart enough to work it out.

That is true, but as it refers to houses in the North, it's not really significant.

They have backyards in the South too, but being very pretentious they often call them Patios or Courtyards, but I think Col understood the term but just decided to be , well, Col

You'll be pleased to know we tend to refer to back yards are back greens up here in Scotland, or, "backies" just to confuse the issue :D

In Guatemala, they don't have yards, the houses are right up next to each other. But when you go into the house you actually enter a courtyard with the hallways and rooms around it. Some even have roof top patios. It's really beautiful there.
