You are not proving anything. What people thought it was and what it was actually are two different things. I made a post warning people what they thought was private is now very public, I am personally contacting those who gave out PII (emails, phone numbers, databases, full names), and warning them. Maybe people like giving out their personal emails on a forum, but I am guessing not.

I am not an idiot. I get how it works now and prior. I could care less how it works. My point, one more time, is that people clearly thought this was private and posted private information. Why do I Know this, because I can read and there are many posts like "here is my personal email" or "do not share this DB", or " I do not give my name out ". Convincing me how it works does not solve the problem. I posted a warning to others and contacted a few. So I have done what I could.

FYI, I tested PM. What I looked for but don't see is my message count vs number permitted. You also cannot add an image as you seem to be able to in a thread. A url type image is the only option so I didn't follow through on that. Everything else will just take time to figure out. Maybe what's needed is a How Do I? in a new thread or something. Those who know can reply.

Jon, FWIW I suspect you are correct on the PM vs message board thing. I almost posted a pm type message there in the beginning, thinking that is what it was for, but I saw the notification at the bottom that it wasn't private. Then I figured out how the pm function was initiated and never used the message board as it's not private regardless of what you put there.

NOTE: I wrote this before reading the last couple of posts. Hopefully it helps clarify the issue as well as state my opinion.

As previously mentioned, the old Visitor Messages are now called Profile Posts. In the past you have to visit the user's profile to view them but if you did so, they were visible to all. I never used them but I think a lot of members wrongly thought of them as private, I think it should be a priority to remove them from the new prominent display. Suggest delete the feature completely. PMs are available and are the proper place for a private conversation.

I hadn't realised that clicking on the user avatar brought up the post total etc. However its not that reliable on my tablet. Prefer to have the info visible without needing to click. Sorry to repeat myself but I don't think Reactions have the same meaning as reputation points and aren't as useful. Don't see any real use in the separate Points total.

nothing as far as I can see - it has more on the new site, not sure about the advanced editor which I primarily used for attachments and bullets, both of which are available here

One thing I have noticed, there was a setting I used to reverse the order of posts so the latest post was at the top. Doesn't seem to be available in settings. Not a major problem. just have to remember to click in a different place, or this new 'jump to new' button
