If Iran was democratic the same thing.
That's what's so bloody scary about Americans, most of them are ignorant when it comes to the facts, and the facts are that both Iran and Palestine are democracies. What pisses off the yanks is that they don't share the American capitalist dream

Ok Hamas being elected goes against the theory that democracies dont wage war upon each other...due to the fact of elected officials and people having say in the govt.

Even in lebanon where Hezbolla is part of Sinora's govt, even though its the terrorist wing of Iran.

Iran yes Ahamedinjad* was elected, but the power and ultimate say still lies upon the ayotollah. Its a theocracy not a democracy...

That was what I thought about Iran, yes they hold elections etc. but I thought the "clerics" still retained much of the power.

in the original story this is taking into account all the movies and the books starting from the beginning, the galactic republic was a democratic collection of planets and systems, similar to the UN they ran everything, though the UN doesnt. some systems were not part of the republic yada yada. then the times of the civil war with the outlying systems count dooku and the trade federation all set into motion by then senator palpatine. around episode three when the war is in full swing palpatine had the senate give him basically unlimited power. so in the ashes of the old republic he built the first galactic empire. that is what the rebels were fighting in episode IV. just FYI
